about

Sound In Silence is happy to welcome back Yellow6, presenting his new album A Change In The Weather.

Yellow6 is the solo project of Jon Attwood, based in Leicestershire, UK. During the last two decades he has established himself as one of the foremost purveyors in the ambient/post-rock scene, having released his music on labels such as Enraptured, Make Mine Music, Resonant, Cathedral Transmissions, and his own Editions6, amongst many others. Since 1998 he has played many shows in Europe and North America, and has collaborated with many other artists such as Portal, Thisquietarmy, Absent Without Leave, Caught In The Wake Forever, David Newlyn, Charles Atlas, Stafrænn Hákon and many others too.

A Change In The Weather is made up of nine new tracks with a total duration of about 65 minutes. All tracks were recorded at home in the first half of 2022, adjusting to a new sort of normal for the world. Yellow6 offers another great album, focused on the minimal approach of his latest releases, mixing arpeggiated guitars, loops of haunting melodies and layers of ambient textures and drones.
Expertly mastered by George Mastrokostas (aka Absent Without Leave), A Change In The Weather is a wonderful album which appeals to all fans of atmospheric music of artists such as Labradford, Windy & Carl, Low and Nick Cave & Warren Ellis.

A Change In The Weather comes in two distinct editions.

The first one is a deluxe limited edition of 100 handmade, hand-stamped and hand-numbered collectible copies. This edition includes an exclusive bonus disc, not included in the other edition or the digital download. The bonus disc, entitled Weathered, includes sixteen acoustic tracks that are only available in physical format here. All these tracks were recorded during the same period as A Change In The Weather album, following the purchase of a new acoustic guitar. Some of these are a single take, some single take with loops, but never more than a few layers of guitar. It is packaged in a lovely, hand-tied, sewn fabric envelope, which includes two 4 panel insert sheets containing tracklist and information printed on 250 gsm off-white and cream recycled cardboards and the front cover images printed on polaroid style photo paper. It also comes bundled with a download code coupon and a Sound In Silence card.

The second one is a limited edition of 200 handmade and hand-numbered collectible copies. It is packaged in a lovely hand-stamped 127mm x 127mm 250 gsm off-white recycled cardboard envelope with the front cover image printed on a polaroid style photo paper and an insert sheet containing tracklist and information printed on a 120 gsm cream recycled cardboard. It also comes bundled with a download code coupon and a Sound In Silence card.

Yellow6 is the solo project of British guitarist Jon Attwood. Yellow6 has at times been described as post-rock, minimalist, electronica, ambient… the reality is that Yellow6 has some similarity with each of those genres but is not so easily definable, using aspects of drone, repetition, melody, harmony, noise and silence to create absorbing soundscapes to drift off into ... more
