And when I saw you
Your lies were poetry
And I’m tired
It’s 3AM and you’re so high
And we’d forgotten all the trauma
It was as if it had wiped away
In the darkness
You were smiling
And I knew what you were going to do
What it would mean for all of us
How it took you away from here
And I wanted it
I wanted that look of freedom on my face
But I’m still here
Crying in the darkness
It’s 3AM
And I’m all alone
And I’m all alone
Guitarist Jon Attwood has been making music under the Yellow6 name for around 25 years. In this time he has released over 60 full length albums and many singles, compilation appearances, remixes and collaborations. Gaining early exposure with airplay by the late John Peel, Yellow6 says he isn’t easily pigeonholed, using aspects of drone, minimalism, post-rock, post-punk, his loop based guitar music isn’t easily categorised. Despite the melancholy nature of his music, he’s quite a content person.
Previous collaborators have included thisquietarmy, Dirk Serries, David Newlyn and Wodwo. This latest release, sees Y6 team up with Lux Symmetry.
Lux Symmetry is a composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist from the UK. Using a combination of electronics with live instruments and vocals, she aims to create genre-defying landscapes and pulsing tracks that would be equally at home in the early hours of a darkened night club as they would in a concert hall. Lux retains an inescapable melancholy throughout her works, and describes her compositional style as “maximal minimalist”.
Born in the UK, with Cypriot heritage, Lux studied Violin, Saxophone and Keyboards from childhood before earning a degree in Music Composition at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music in London. She currently resides in Maastricht.
Inspired at a young age by the late composer John Cage, she is fascinated by noise in general, rather than just those ordered into structure. Her musical influences are a varied spectrum of contemporary-classical, post-rock, industrial metal, future garage, and techno.
Y6 and Lux have known each other for a long time, having played together in a cover band. Lux has previously contributed violin to a track on the Yellow6 REFLECT set.
This collaboration came together during the COVID lockdowns, with Lux trapped inside in her Belgium apartment and needing something to work on musically, and Y6 being hyper productive in his own isolation. Not knowing what to expect, he provided some works in progress, which Lux then turned into the varied compositions here. Expecting only some strings to be added to the original Yellow6 guitar tracks, it was a wonderful surprise as Lux created massive layers of synths, keyboards and beats. This possibly is the closest we will ever get to Jon’s original stated aim of Yellow6 being “like Bark Psychosis you can dance to”. It takes a special kind of person to dance to Yellow6. Now everyone can try.
Yellow6 is the solo project of British guitarist Jon Attwood. Yellow6 has at times been described as post-rock, minimalist,
electronica, ambient… the reality is that Yellow6 has some similarity with each of those genres but is not so easily definable, using aspects of drone, repetition, melody, harmony, noise and silence to create absorbing soundscapes to drift off into...more

Sublime work from start to finish. Disc 2 on the limited edition is a slice of acoustic heaven. Overall probably my favourite Yellow6 release and that is saying something given the quality of competition over so many years.
Bravo Jon, I love this direction you have taken. as always I am left wanting more.
