about

Around the time of my second 7" single, the label, Bearos, invited me to play a label night at the Jug of Ale in Moseley, Birmingham on 29 January 2000. Having never played solo before, and lacking both the confidence and equipment to pull off a solo show, i asked some friends to play with me. It was the one and only time this line up played live.
A set of material was planned and a single rehearsal held at The Music Shed in Derby. This is the recording of that rehearsal.
On drums is Mark Simnett, and on bass Scott Sinfield. Both played at later gigs, but using drum machines, with Mark moving to bass and Scott on guitar.
There is a recording of the gig itself, however this was taken directly from the mixing desk, and has barely audible guitar.
This tape was recorded on a 4-track cassette machine using 2 microphones, each song being a single take. It's rough and the sound isn't great, but it's an interesting window to the early development of Yellow6 as a live act.

The studio versions of these songs originally appeared on vinyl releases on the Bearos, Awkward Silence, Enraptured and Atomic labels, and are available on the album "The Beautiful Season Has Past".

Thanks to Mark and Scott for playing the gig, and allowing me to release the recordings, Alan Farmer of Bearos Records for putting the gig on and releasing the single.
